Food & Treats
Our puppies are started out on Diamond puppyfood soaked in hot water and mashed. Some additives we use are unsalted beef broth, Pedigree lamb and rice canned puppy food and plain unflavored yogurt. Cooked and pureed vegetables such as green beans or carrots are also good to stir in.
Our adults are fed Diamond High Energy. To locate either the puppy or adult food in your area go to www.diamondpetfoods.com and you can search by zip code.
Green Beans or Carrot Snacks-
Either of these are great nutritious low calorie snacks for your dog of any age. I like to dehydrate them and make them into crunchy snacks using either fresh or unsalted canned vegetables.
Liver Pops-Summertime treat!
Cook beef liver until thoroughly done. Cool and dice into small pieces about 1/4" to 1/2" depending on the size of your dog. Freeze in a single layer on a cookie sheet and transfer to a baggie. Keep frozen for a cool treat! These are rich so DO NOT give too many or it can cause diarrhea.
Homemade Dog Biscuits
1/2 cups water (add more water later if required)
1/3 cup oil
3 tablespoons peanut butter
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups whole wheat flour
½ cup cornmeal
½ cup old fashioned oats
Add all liquid ingredients to a large bowl and stir. Mix together the dry ingredients and stir into the liquid mixture until it forms a ball. Roll out and cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters or use a knife and cut into pieces. Bake on a lightly greased or non stick baking sheet for 18 to 20 minutes at 400 F. Turn off heat and leave in the oven until they are cooled and hard. Store in airtight container.
